IUC or Interconnect Usage Charge is the amount a telecom operator has to pay to the opposite telecom operator if a consumer makes an outgoing call to a consumer of the alternative telecom operator. The TRAI decides the IUC fee and currently, all operators must pay 6 paise consistent with minute.

While other operators price their customers for calls, Jio gives unfastened calls on its community and as a result, it has to endure losses as Jio will pay the IUC charge for each call made to some other network.
“The amendment to the IUC Regulations in 2017 become after extensive deliberations and consultations. In this background, created the session paper Regulatory uncertainty and therefore Jio forced, most reluctantly and inevitably, to recover this regulatory charge of 6 paise in keeping with minute for all off-internet cell voice calls so long as IUC charges exist,” says Jio.
When will the IUC costs stop for Jio customers?
“Jio once more assures its 35 crore clients that the 6 paise in line with a minute price on outgoing off-net mobile calls shall preserve only till the time TRAI abolishes IUC, in line with its present law,” says Jio.
